Justin Welby worked in the oil industry for 11 years – five in Paris and six in London – becoming group Treasurer of Enterprise Oil, a large British exploration and production company. During this period he was a lay leader at HTB, where he was on the Executive Committee of the church council. He trained for ordination at St John’s College, Durham, after which he spent 15 years working in two parishes in Coventry Diocese. In 2002, he was made a Canon of Coventry Cathedral, where he ran the reconciliation work there. Five years later was installed Dean of Liverpool, where he oversaw considerable growth in the Cathedral congregation. In 2011 he became Bishop of Durham, taking over from the Right Reverend Tom Wright. On 21st March 2013 he was enthroned as the 105th Archbishop of Canterbury at Canterbury Cathedral.
